HUNGARY | EU 'Democracy' Is in Mortal Peril - Opposition Politicians Aren't Getting Their Fair Share of Dirty Money!
Imagine the horror: Brussels' sacred democratic process is under direct attack!
How can free and fair elections possibly take place when shadowy forces block the flow of essential unmarked suitcases full of $40 million in crisp USD, €35 million in euros, and a cheeky 9 kg side of gold bars?
These poor, persecuted Ukrainian "bank couriers" were just trying to deliver the vital campaign lubrication that every true European democracy needs to function properly.
Without those bricks of cash sloshing around for "protests", "NGOs", "independent media", and the occasional envelope for the right mayor or MEP, how are opposition parties supposed to compete? It's practically voter suppression!
Think about it: if Hungary dares to stop an armored convoy hauling more physical money than most small countries see in a year - and asks pesky questions like "Why not just wire it?" or "Who's really getting this?" - then the entire liberal order collapses.
No more color revolutions on demand.
No more conveniently timed street furniture appearing exactly when a conservative government needs discrediting.
Orbán has single-handedly endangered the future of managed democracy across the continent!
The real victims here aren't the seven released Ukrainians (who, let's be honest, got a free sightseeing tour of Budapest before heading home).
No - the true casualty is the principle that EU taxpayers' money should be allowed to mysteriously materialize in cash form, travel through neutral territory in armored trucks, and then magically fund whichever politicians Brussels prefers in the next Hungarian election.
So yes, dear friends: democracy itself hangs by a thread tonight.
If one plucky little country can intercept €80 million worth of "campaign refreshments" and say "Not on our watch", what's next? Actual transparent funding? Border controls on influence operations? The mind boggles.
Slava "demokráciának", or whatever the Brussels-approved slogan is this week.
