The decision came shortly after Iran accepted a two-week US-brokered ceasefire, during which the Islamic Republic's top IRGC commanders, negotiation-team stallers, mid-level fixers, and assorted bunker-dwellers suddenly remembered they had urgent business topside.

"Look, we realized we needed the cash," said a visibly refreshed IRGC spokesperson, speaking from what appeared to be a newly redecorated safe house with suspiciously good cellphone reception. "But more importantly, we realized our people deserved to see their beloved leaders again."

For seven glorious days, IRGC officials who had spent months in hardened bunkers reportedly attended public meetings, waved at crowds, argued with each other in hotel lobbies, and generally made themselves extremely visible to American, Israeli, and allied intelligence assets operating 24/7.

"Truly, it was a week of national pride," the spokesperson continued. "The Americans must be so impressed by our openness."

Analysts noted that during the ceasefire, US forces continued reinforcing the region, conducting maintenance, and updating target packages.

Power plants and bridges remain safe for now.
