BRUSSELS | EU Announces Escalation As Safest Long-Term Stability Strategy

After managing to antagonize much of the world, leaders of the European Union confirmed that further escalation remains the most responsible path forward.

Despite the announcement landing on April 1st, officials stressed this is not an April Fools’ joke.

The €1.4 billion “windfall” was described as an entirely legal creative interpretation of the rules-based order - a precedent they intend to reuse with gusto. The Russian bank account is locked, but the interest it generates is being collected and spent.

Markets have already added “European policy improvisation” to their risk assessments, while energy experts pointed out that Europe’s remaining 14 days of gas reserves provide the perfect motivational deadline for such visionary decisions.

EU leaders announced they will continue this policy until Russia is defeated or Europe runs out of other people’s money, whichever comes first.
