Dark Clouds Are Gathering Over Europe - the Commission Celebrates
A thunderstorm that can no longer be stopped.
“That’s irrelevant, Brussels is far away” seems to be the new motto in some circles.
With this attitude, hardly anything stands in the way of a prolonged, bloody war of attrition in Ukraine.
Robert Fico will no longer be the only one blocking things.
Other voices of national self-interest are staying silent.
Perhaps we’ll even see an accelerated EU accession for Ukraine.
We, the taxpayers of the net contributor countries, will gladly foot the bill for the gigantic reconstruction - while the lights go out at home. Do you think all those soldiers will wanna stay at home and rebuild, when there is good life to be had in Germany?
ETHICS & DEMOCRACY
Anyone who has seen the latest revelations from FOB recognizes the EU’s new business-political ethic - deals in the cabinet shadows, influence-peddling behind closed doors, transparency nothing more than a fig leaf.
Combined with Ursula von der Leyen’s mysteriously vanished SMS in the PfizerGate scandal, a picture emerges of concentrated power and a lack of accountability that has increasingly little in common with democracy and the rule of law.
On top of that comes the creeping, opaque redistribution at EU level - billions flow from the pockets of net contributors into the Multiannual Financial Framework, into reconstruction funds and ever new “solidarity” mechanisms - often without proper oversight, genuine democratic legitimacy, paying the bill for ideological projects and structural deficits elsewhere.
The whole thing increasingly resembles a EUdSSR - a centralist planned economy run from Brussels, where a small elite in the Commission and Parliament decides how the resources of the peoples are redistributed. National sovereignty and economic reason become afterthoughts.
At the heart of this system sits George Soros and his vast network. Through the Open Society Foundations and hundreds of funded NGOs, Soros has poured hundreds of millions into shaping EU policy - from migration and judicial reform to media, think tanks, and activist groups in Brussels.
ENERGY
Energy policy threatens a long-term catastrophe.
Every realistic hope of a later reconciliation with Russia and affordable gas and oil prices is being systematically destroyed.
Instead, dependence on expensive alternatives is being cemented - to the detriment of industry, households, and entire economies.
In this way, the EU has ultimately alienated all its major partners - Russia through total estrangement and the USA through moral arrogance and inactivity - and now stands isolated, empty-handed and without its own strategic resources.
GREEN DEAL
And as if that weren’t enough, the self-destructive Green Deal is added to the mix.
With its rigid requirements for land set-asides and CO₂ border taxes, it is driving domestic farmers into a corner. Costs are rising dramatically, competitiveness is vanishing - and at the same time, the Mercosur agreement is being waved through, flooding the European market with cheap agricultural imports of questionable quality from South America.
But hey - Monsanto/Bayer Roundup (glyphosate) remains approved until 2033… for now.
The tractor protests are no coincidence. The EU is sacrificing its own farmers on the altar of ideological climate religion, while the competition overseas laughs.
MIGRATION
The new Migration Pact sounds tough - return hubs, accelerated deportation procedures.
In reality, however, the gates remain wide open. Implementation is lagging badly, secondary migration continues unchecked, and the gap between Brussels paperwork and what is actually happening at the borders and in the cities is growing ever wider.
Meanwhile, Islam is the fastest-growing religion in large parts of Europe - driven by higher birth rates and continued extended invitation to join in on social security.
In many countries its share is rising noticeably.
SURVEILLANCE
The next wave of digital surveillance is rolling in - Chat Control, DSA, mandatory age verification and the European Digital Identity Wallet - all of it leading to ever tighter control over our private communications, our data and our everyday lives.
Privacy becomes collateral damage of an alleged security and child-protection agenda.
WAR
The threat of indirect support for the Ukrainian army with European resources and recruits is real.
While Kyiv struggles with massive personnel shortages, Brussels is considering how to finance contract soldiers with EU money or recruit foreign fighters. In the end, it could once again be our tax euros - and possibly personell - keeping the war going.
At the same time, the push for a European Army and a European Secret Service - both driven directly by von der Leyen - continues.
It even looks like even the United Kingdom wants to move a bit closer to the EU again.
After all the Brexit drama, we’re suddenly hearing about an “ambitious partnership” and reset talks.
Some are already quietly calling it “Bregret”.
Who would have thought?
And who knows - if this continues, maybe Turkey’s EU accession is next?
Let's celebrate!
