Europe Has Solved Energy but Won’t Reveal the Fusion Reactor Just Yet

Who actually needs peace before winter?

Trump does. Diesel is already a political problem, with U.S. prices above $6 a gallon and the midterms coming on November 3. Refinery destruction in Russia and disruption in the Middle East are feeding the shortage.

A war-ending foreign-policy win would also be .. a win.

Ukraine does too, but for a different reason.

Another winter of Russian attacks on electricity and heating would be horrific. Zelenski, personally, will be OK either way.

Putin has reasons as well. Damaged refineries, export restrictions, sanctions and an economy that would benefit rather substantially from normal trade becoming a thing again.

Europe, apparently, does not need peace quite as urgently.

Russian gas is largely gone. Diesel is becoming increasingly expensive. Middle Eastern supply is unstable. American diesel may soon remain in America. European gas storage is heading into winter like a bear that forgot to get fat. Hibernation starts Monday, and there is no guarantee it wakes up in spring.

Trump backs the idea of restricting diesel exports to bring down U.S. prices. Europe then gets to discover the full philosophical meaning of “America First” at the pump, but doesn't seem to care.

Yesterday, von der Leyen told Zelenski that €37 billion is still available from the EU this year, with more defence and budget support coming. Five days earlier, Brussels had already transferred another €3.3 billion for drones and missiles.

Brussels is still remarkably relaxed about the whole arrangement.

This can only mean the energy question has finally been solved.

There are really only two possible explanations.

1 - aliens, obviously

2 - Somewhere underneath the Berlaymont, Ursula von der Leyen has a working fusion reactor.

We cannot yet establish whether the technology came directly from extraterrestrials, was supplied by alien-human hybrids inside the Commission, or was recently dug out of the Greenland ice during one of Ursula’s increasingly enthusiastic Arctic visits.

Until the fusion reactor is unveiled, Europeans will have to continue using the old technology: money.

Lots and lots of money.
